Workbook Life Drawing

I was invited to a live drawing schmooze-fest by Workbook in NYC last week. Alongside a bunch of other artists, I had to draw carnival burlesque girls at the Art Directors Club in Manhattan.

I don't think I've done any 'serious' life drawing since I was at art college. It was fun to give it a go again, and even better as I was being plied with copious amounts of red wine and snacks. I was a bit intimidated by all the other artists, many were churning out page after page of dashing portraits and poses. When faced with the blank page however, it's a personal battle, regardless of expectation. I snapped off the lid to a Posca marker pen and took to scrawling, unapologetic for my crooked lines and twisted forms.
